The 4th of July seemed kind of dull this year. I'm not sure why. It just was. Everyone was gone somewhere. So we did our usual Middleton Parade. My parents and my Grandma Sager were there too. The Middleton First Baptist Church (the church we attended the first 3 years of my life) had a BBQ, a yard full of jumpers and a huge fishing tank. Before the parade, the kids fished for at least 20 minutes. Briyanna had a big one on but lost it right before she got it out of the water. We watched the parade. The kids did their usual "Drenching by Firemen" at the end of the parade. I still don't quite get this. But then, I HATE water. It was kind of fun watching a guy that had a cooler full of ice and water balloons throwing the balloons at unsuspecting paraders. Some of the looks of shock were priceless. After the parade, we did some more fishing. Briyanna finally caught a fish after about 30 minutes. Ethan's took about 45 minutes.
Then we went out to my mom and dad's house. My Aunt Joann, Uncle Larry and cousin Casey came to that. We had a BBQ and just hung out for the whole day, doing nothin'! We had a bunch of laughs. FOX!!!!!!!!!!! You'll have to ask me about that sometime. I might tell you if I'm not too embarrassed. Or ask my Aunt Joann. She tells the story best. My mom wanted her toe nails painted. So I gave her a pedicure. Eww... feet kinda bother me, but I thought I should be a good daughter. That made all the girls want their toe nails done too.
And Berlyn lost her very first tooth!! I didn't even know she had loose teeth! I had been gone all week at church camp and so on Saturday, she says her teeth hurt, they're looser than loose and the new teeth are already up behind it. So out it came.
If you know my kids, they all have really good imaginations. So Berlyn and Ethan were inside my parent's garage looking for the cat when they stumbled upon a pool of dried up blood. Okay, it was really from a can of paint that my dad dropped over a year ago. Berlyn knew right where the chalk was, laid down and Ethan traced her body for the body outline of a crime scene... bent leg and all. It was funny! We all laughed for a long time over that one.
Briyanna had to show off the monster bruise that she got up at church camp doing self defense skills class. It got much worse before it got better.
And of course...fireworks at Caldwell with my parents, my brother, Randy, and his family, his (Randy's) friend and family, Rob's parents and Rob's brother, Jeramy, and family- 23 of us in all on the side of the road. So there is a little story about this. Last year, their fireworks were GREAT! Like 30 minutes long and just really good. This year, no... They lasted 8 minutes. Seriously. Apparently, they started late and the guys doing them just wanted to be done. So they quit. It was very disappointing.
Then we finished off the night at Rob's parent's house. Jeramy had bought a bunch of fireworks to shoot off. And we had yummy homemade vanilla ice cream made with homemade vanilla and vodka. It was REALLY good.
